Our mission is to support adopted and foster children and their families throughout their lifelong journey by providing compassionate therapeutic services, educational resources, and a strong sense of community. We are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment that fosters well-being, resilience, and lasting, healthy relationships—ensuring every individual has the support they need to thrive.
The Founder's Journey
The AFTER Foundation was founded in 2025 by Lauren Pura, an adoptive parent whose journey with her daughter revealed the deep and often unmet needs of adopted and foster children.
Motivated by a desire to make a difference, Lauren served for eight years on the board of a nonprofit focused on the well-being of children, where she witnessed firsthand how many children and families lack access to the support networks they need to thrive.
Through this experience, she recognized the urgent need for a dedicated organization focused solely on the unique challenges faced by adoptees, foster youth, and their families. That vision led to the creation of The AFTER Foundation—a place where compassion meets action, and where every child and caregiver is seen, supported, and celebrated.
